Some of the most celebrated of Agatha Christie’s novels did not feature her most famous sleuths: for example, And Then There Were None, Crooked House, Ordeal by Innocence, The Pale Horse and the wonderful Endless Night. Most of the rest are well worth reading, with the possible exception of the ‘extravaganza’ at the end.
